        About Us!

Exeter Street Food Started in April 2012 and we believe that we were one of the first and original Street Food (still not only surviving but thriving) in the South West. We started with Isabella Mozzarella (Pizza, own stand) and cupcakes (Get Cupcaked) on offer alongside some retail stands but soon realized that the most talked about product was the pizza and cake so we started adding to this which soon turned into a Street Food element in 2012. In 2013 we took this from monthly to weekly extended our range of food and continue to do so.

This has not been an easy journey as we are expecting people to eat alfresco in the UK but now more and more people are visiting we are noticing that what was a challenge is actually enjoyable. The second phase was to get an alcohol license (first time in the history of the Guildhall) and this gave birth to the ‘Man crèche’ (this is equal opportunities and ladies are welcome too) and award winning Exe Valley Brewery and our Pop Up Pub. This cemented the shopping experience with a fine ale and lunch.

We also did our first Street Food Festival with all day music which proved to be monumental as the weather was fab and it was just packed with people having a great time and their three favourite things: food, music and alcohol! The success of this has contributed to the £7 million revamp planned for the Guildhall as we have been able to show the way forward by introducing great food and atmosphere attracting new footfall and dwell time.

We cannot wait to work alongside some of the great restaurants coming into the centre. On the whole we look for our stands to use local producers where possible, independent local and UK business as we feel this then not only supports local but also contributes to our local economy which I believe is the backbone of this country and something we can be proud of and shout about – especially in the South West

Karen Smith

Managing Director

I ‘ve done many things over the years gaining qualifications in Business studies, law and politics honours degree. Helped keep my parents Hotel afloat in the 80’s economic downturn. Worked in Business Banking, a leading advertising company for 10 years winning many awards and incentives, business networked with my husband for 20 years whilst he has worked for some prestigious companies and brands. I have been a director for a Log Cabin business and now I own and run my own events company. I have found this to be quite challenging and sure I will moving forward as an easy option is to go volume over quality and I still maintain to build a quality product over cheap imports and make it as affordable as possible is the way forward and I will continue to do this to the best of my ability, although like everyone else I do make the odd mistake!!! Overall looking back I have made great progress, helped lots of businesses and met many amazing people some who will become life long friends and looking forward I will endeavor to continue down this path and continue to support local and UK businesses and economies.
